Vanakkam Everyone!

We are Swetha and Deepshi, two sisters with one shared longing: food that feels like home.

Marwari by birth and Tamizh by heart, we grew up in a household where rasam meant comfort, banana leaves meant celebration, and every meal brought everyone together.

Years later, when Deepshi moved up north, most calls would end with the same line:
“I miss our food so much.”
But it wasn’t just the flavours she missed. It was the feeling.

At first, we laughed it off.
Then we cooked more. Missed more. Dreamed more.

And somewhere between those conversations and kitchens, Elai Platter took shape: a labour of love between two sisters, connected across cities through sambhar aromas and rasam recipes.

We make South Indian comfort food using mindfully sourced ingredients that nourish both body and soul. Our products stay rooted in tradition, but are designed for everyday life.

Whether you grew up with these flavours or are discovering them for the first time, we want every dish to feel warm, familiar, and full of care.

Why Elai Platter?

"Elai" means banana leaf in Tamil.
It’s not just a plate but a symbol of hospitality, tradition, and love. A canvas that carries more than food-  fragrance, flavour, and years of family stories.

To us, nothing says “you’re welcome here” quite like a banana leaf piled high with love (and maybe an extra spoon of podi).

Just like the banana leaf, Elai is built to serve food, but more importantly the people, practices, and communities behind it. Our brand stands on four core pillars:

  • Women at the core of Elai

The women who work with us carry generations of knowledge passed down from mothers and grandmothers. Their hands, skills, and stories shape every product. They’re not just part of the process, they are the heartbeat of Elai Platter. Together, we preserve heritage and create paths to independence and pride.

  • Heirloom Recipes, Made for Today

Our products are grounded in the wisdom of traditional South Indian cooking. While the packaging may be modern, the flavours remain timeless. Every small batch is made with care: no shortcuts, no preservatives, and no compromises.

  • Community-Centred Sourcing

It all begins with the land and those who tend it. We work directly with local communities that use sustainable, traditional methods. These partnerships give us the finest grains, spices, and produce, while supporting the farmers who grow them.

  • Ingredients we would Proudly Serve our Family

We’re selective about our ingredients in the best way. We source from regions known for excellence and personally oversee every step from farm to kitchen. Because real South Indian food deserves real care.
